It is alleged that:
– a Chevrolet Malibu was travelling westbound on Charlton Street at high speed and failed to stop for a stop sign,
– a Dodge Caliber was travelling northbound on Grantbrook Street and struck the Malibu in the intersection,
– the Malibu then struck a concrete hydro pole and a tree before stopping.
As a result of the collision, a 29-year-old man, who was a rear-seat passenger in the Malibu, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 60-year-old driver of the Dodge and the 61-year-old passenger were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver and a second passenger in the Malibu, both 29-year-old men, were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Malibu was arrested and is under investigation for alcohol-related offences.
