District 3 RCMP are assisting in a search for a 46-year-old man from Grand Bay-Westfield whose 12-foot aluminum boat was found drifting on Nelson Lake on September 13 at 7:15 p.m. Life jackets were found on the boat.

The man, who is not a swimmer, was last seen at a camp on Nelson Lake on September 12 at 6 p.m. His vehicle was located near Round Lake which is attached to Nelson Lake. Witnesses told police the vehicle had not moved since Sunday.

The Grand Bay-Westfield Fire Department as well as River Valley Ground Search and Rescue are searching the water and land surrounding the lakes. An RCMP boat from District 3 in Hampton as well as the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team are assisting in the search.

The man’s name is not being released at this time at the request of the family
