York Regional Police is releasing the identity and photograph of the victim whose body was found on  the roadside of Highway 9 in the Town of Schomberg last Friday.

Following notification of the victim’s next of kin, the victim’s identity has been confirmed as Rudolf PICAVET, 62, of Bradford.

Mr. Picavet was found on Friday, February 11, 2011, at approximately 7:20 a.m. by an off-duty York Regional Police officer passing through the area. Mr. Picavet was transported to hospital where he succumbed to injuries, following exposure to extreme weather conditions.

The matter is not being treated as criminal at this time, however, investigators are still attempting to piece together the events which led up to Mr. Picavet’s death.
