Two school-going teenagers arrested on charges of allegedly plotting to kill three other school students and rape another are set to appear in court this week for a bail hearing. According to the police, all intended victims, including three boys and one girl, and the alleged suspects were students at Ecole Polyvalente Hyacinthe-Delorme.
Investigation suggests that the two suspects, including one 14-year-old and one 16-years-old, allegedly planned to kill the three boys and rape the girl. Arrested on Wednesday and presented in court the next day, both suspects are facing charges including three counts each of conspiracy to commit murder and criminal harassment and one charge each of attempting to administer a date rape drug. The suspects are placed in police custody until their hearing on either Monday afternoon or Tuesday.
In her remarks, Surete du Quebec spokesperson Audrey-Anne Bilodeau explained that the arrests were made in conclusion of an investigation initiated from a report by one of the suspect’s parents who found threatening messages and the plot’s details on one of her son’s social media accounts. Bilodeau appreciated the quick response and help of the parents and school administration for allowing police to act in time. She revealed that “a search was held in the school and an investigation was able to demonstrate that the young people were about to execute their plan,” and a knife was found in of the boys’ lockers. Bilodeau said young people should be aware that threats made on social media are taken seriously by police.
