Home Secretary, Theresa MayHome Secretary Theresa May has warned regarding the risk that thousands of people in Britain are facing to be radicalised, as the government has announced plans for afresh terror task force to tackle extremism in the wake of recent Woolwich’s brutal attack.

Ms. May has said a review of powers to tackle extremist groups was under process and that a new task force would assess whether reforms to ban extremist organisations and messages were required.

Ms. May has told in a BBC show yesterday: “We do need to look at the powers, we do need to look at the laws. We do need to look, for example, at the question of whether perhaps we need to have banning orders to ban organisations that don’t meet the threshold for proscription.”

The Home Secretary has further suggested bringing in and imposing tougher rules on internet service providers, so that the government would be able to scan through “what is being beamed into people’s homes”.

The task force named as the Tackling Extremism and Radicalisation Task Force (TERFOR), will focus on radical preachers who target potential recruits. Prime Minister David Cameron’s office has told the group would focus on practical measures rather than getting bogged down in theoretical debates about Britishness.

In the wake of formation of the formation of this task force, the Cabinet-level group is expected to meet within few weeks and will include Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Theresa May, Chancellor George Osborne, Metropolitan Police commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe and Andrew Parker, director general of the Security Service.

This was an attempt to control the incidents like Woolwich murder of British soldier by a radical group member. Ms. May has told around 500 police and security officers were investigating the “horrific murder” of soldier Lee Rigby happened at Woolwich.
