In Mumbai there are 3 stadiums. Among them DY Patil stadium has a maximum seating capacity of 55,000. Yet Wankhede Stadium was selected for the World Cup final just because Sharad Pawar led MCA owns it, even though its seating capacity is almost half that of DY Patil Stadium.

Furthermore, only 4,000 will be sold to the general public. The rest will go to VVIPs, club members, ICC’s associations and sponsors. It is not surprising that the official website for tickets for the finals crashed as millions logged on at the same time.

Police lathi-charged fans who had lined up to purchase tickets for the India – Endland match. It was originally scheduled to be played at Eden Gardens. Kolkata has a capacity of accommodating more than 100,000 spectators but because of BCCI’s internal politics the match was awarded to Chinnaswamy Stadium, which has a seating capacity of just 42,000. And out of 42,000 tickets only 7,000 were available for the general public.

The following are some comments from Times Of India

Shameful Act by Police! They ought to practice it on Sharad Pawar who is holding PhD in mis-management. It proved that only Aam admi have to face actions. – Paras (New Delhi)

Wherever there is Sharad Pawar, there is filth and corruption. He’s already destroyed agriculture and food economy of India and has brought misery to millions of farmers, now he’s doing the same with cricket. The sooner he departs for HELL, the better it would be for India. – Sam (India)

“ICC had on Wednesday asked organising committee chairman Sharad Pawar to sort out the ‘ticketing mess’ as soon as possible. ” To everyone attention, The President of ICC and Organising committee chairman is the one and only Sharad Pawar. Who is asking whom here? – Bharath (Bengaluru)

Whenever a heavily advertised movie is released, there is extraordinary demand for tickets and only a few are sold for public. Scammers make a quick buck selling the tickets in blackmarket and there is a hand for all in such dirty dealings – gangsters, politicians, ticketing officials. This being a prestigious WC match the demand is incredible and hence the racketeering. Cricket loving public pay the heavy price!!!!!!!! – V N Subramaniam (keyser)

how can they sell such small numbers of tkts for a country of millions of fans..this is completely unfair..why is everything politically manipulated!!! – A Redhu (shanghai)

Seems One scam in Inida. ICC should investigate how many tickets are sold in black!!! – vinod (Dubai)
