The lone surviving terrorist of 26/11 attacks on Mumbai, Ajmal Amir Kasab has been finally given the death sentence. Justice Tahiliani of a special court announced his death sentence on four separate charges. In five other charges, he is given life sentence. Kasab has been charged with 86 crimes, in all of which he is found guilty. He is given death sentence for killing innocent people, conspiring for murder, declaring war against India and under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act etc. People of india will probably never forget 26/11 when this Pak citizen Kasab along with his 9 pakistani counterparts made Mumbai hostage for three days. In this biggest terrorist attack ever in India, over 170 innocents lost their lives, while more than 300 were injured.

Post 26/11, Pakistan tried hard to disown all these 10 terrorists. And ultimately it refused to claim the 9 dead terrorists. Consequently, they had to be buried in India. Since Kasab was caught alive, Pakistan had no other option than to accept his nationality. It is known that 10 terrorists including Kasab reached Mumbai from Karachi by sea on 26th November 2008. Within an hour of their attack, communication between them and their Pakistan based masters was tracked. Another thing to be noted here is that the punishment to Kasab is not given on the basis of his confession but after analysing all evidences and witnesses, he is given death sentence. The court has acknowledged that Pakistani citizen Kasab is a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba. The court has also said that apart from these 10 terrorists, another 20 Pak-based people including the Jamaat-Ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Sayeed and Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi were actively involved in the attacks. Here we should also remember that while Pakistan house arrested Hafiz Sayeed after the attack under pressure from India, the same Sayeed was soon released by Pakistani court and after his release he organised many anti-India rallies in major Pakistani cities and warned India of more Mumbai like attacks. It is obvious that such kind of anti-India activities can’t take place in Pakistan without the consent of its rulers or by hiding from them.

Sometime ago, a public meeting of so many Pakistan based terrorist organisations was held in POK. In this meeting also, they called on Muslim youths to declare ‘jihad’ against India and get ‘heaven’ in the process. Such kinds of activities are now common in Pakistan. The police and army officers who are supposed to act against such poisonous rallies, themselves can be seen participating in such rallies. These terrorist organisations have spread themselves to such an extent that it has become very difficult, if not impossible, for the Pak police and army to decisively act against them.

While India has convicted Kasab for 26/11 Mumbai attacks, another Pak-origin person named Faisal Shehzad has been arrested for an attempt to carry out terrorist attack in New York. He got the US citizenship on 17 April 2009. Shehzad’s father Bahar-ul-Haq is a former Air Vice Marshal in the Pakistani Air Force and also the former head of Pak’s civil aviation. Shehzad has admitted that he bought a Pathfinder SUV in $1300 and brought the vehicle from Connecticut to New York. He parked it at Times square & unsuccessfully tried to blast it.

According to his confessional statement, he was trained in bomb making by the Pakistan based Taliban’s in Waziristan region of Pakistan. These organisations made him mentally and technically prepared to get involved in ‘jihad’ and become a ‘martyr’. Faisal was arrested at the JFK Airport when he boarded a flight for Dubai. But American security officers stopped the plane and caught him. It is strange that Faisal himself is admitting that he is a Pakistani citizen. His present residence is in a posh area of Peshawar while his ancestral home is 30-kms from Peshawar in Mohib Banda village. But the Interior Minister of Pakistan Rehman Malik, in an attempt to get rid of the Faisal issue, is saying that even though he is of Pak origin, but at present he is a US citizen.

Pakistan is again repeating its same old argument- ‘A single bomb-laden car found in the US is catching the attention of the entire world, in Pakistan such cars daily get blasted. Pakistan itself is a victim of terrorism since years’. Pak Interior Minister also said- ‘Terrorists want to make Pakistan a failed state.’ Here question arises for how long Pakistan will continue to make India & America a ‘partner’ in its failures, weaknesses and inabilities. No doubt, amidst the terror attacks, Pakistan is getting some sympathy. But the double standards adopted by its rulers in fighting terrorism, raise doubts about their intentions. Initially Pakistan refused to accept that Kasab as a Pakistani citizen. But when international media arrived at Kasabs village and after the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif told media about his Pakistani origin, then the government admitted that he is a Pak citizen but it also argued that he became a terrorist because of his poverty and illiteracy. But after the arrest of Faisal Shehzad in America, even those arguments don’t hold weight because Faisal is a well educated, prosperous and has a background of a high-class family.

The US has also for the first time warned Pakistan that if such thing is repeated, then Pakistan will have to face ‘serious consequences’. Therefore, Pakistan should carry out anti-terror operations with full honesty and transparency and act decisively against the Lashkar-e-Taiba, Al Qaeda, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, Tehreek-e-Taliban and other such terrorist organisations. This hate-based communal network needs to be crushed by its roots. Otherwise, Pakistan will have to face such shameful instances daily. And even now if the Pak rulers don’t wake up, it won’t take much long for the state of Pakistan to be in pieces.
