Colonel Geoff Parker

Canadian Colonel Geoff Parker was killed along with five Americans and 12 civilians in a devastating suicide attack in Kabul. 

Colonel Parker, who was 42, hails from Oakville, Ontario. He graduated from Western University and was married and has a son and a daughter. Colonel Geoff Parker is the highest ranking Canadian soldier to be killed in Afghanistan. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Regiment. He recently completed his tour as Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment, based in CFB Gagetown, New Brunswick. He was based at Land Force Central Area Headquarters in Toronto.

"On behalf of everyone in Oakville, I want to express my deep condolences to Col. Parker’s family and to express our town’s sense of loss," said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton.

Colonel Parker is the 145th Canadian soldier killed in Afghanistan. One Canadian diplomat and one journalist have also paid the ultimate price.
