Steve Martin may be one of the funniest actors and comedians of the last 50 years, but he’s also got serious banjo-playing chops, and you can see him live at the Pantages with young bluegrass stars The Steep Canyon Rangers. Steve Martin and The Rangers have been touring together for three years, and the group was named Entertainers of the Year at the 2011 International Bluegrass Association Awards. They’ve played Bonnaroo, New Orleans’ Jazzfest and The Newport Folk Festival, and embarked on four acclaimed national tours marked by Banjo’s adept banjo picking, The Rangers’ great solos and uncanny vocal harmonies, and some of the funniest stage banter in music history. Martin has topped the Billboard bluegrass charts with two albums: 2009’s The Crow, which won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album, and 2011’s Rare Bird Alert.
