After the success of its inaugural dance-theater showcase, BlakTina is back with more cutting-edge choreography by local black and Latina(o) creators. The ten lucky artists who’ll have their works staged as part of the festival were selected on the basis of their innovation and originality by Latino Dance Theater Project (LDTP) members, along with Bootleg Theater’s artistic director. LDTP is led by Licia Perea, a native of New Mexico, who’s received numerous grants for her work, including a pair of coveted NEA Fellowships. Perea performs across the globe with her company, Danzantes.
