"Arthur Miller -- A Life"

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of America’s greatest playwrights, and L.A. Theatre Works celebrates with this world-premiere docudrama revealing the events in Arthur Miller’s life that shaped some of the most iconic plays in modern history. Geoffrey Arend ((500) Days of Summer, TV’s Body of Proof) plays the man who wrote Death of a Salesman, The Crucible, A View From the Bridge and more, once stating in a New York Times interview that he strove to write plays “that would grab an audience by the throat and not release them, rather than presenting an emotion which you could observe and walk away from.” And grab they did, earning enduring acclaim and, for The Crucible, winning a Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Get to know the man who wielded the pen with this glimpse into Miller’s Depression-era adolescence, his experiences during the McCarthy era, his complicated relationships with director Elia Kazan and Marilyn Monroe (Heidi Dippold) and, later, his marriage to Inge Morath (Jane Kaczmarek). Be in the audience as these talented actors perform the show at The James Bridges Theater without sets or costumes for later broadcast on public radio nationwide.
