Los Angeles County Museum of Art – Bing Theater (Los Angeles, CA)

Legendary L.A. composers Martin Lauridsen and David Newman are set to join the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s 50th anniversary celebration at this show spotlighting SoCal’s singular impact on both film and concert music, starring some of the city’s best local musicians. In a nod to LACMA’s inaugural concert five decades ago, new music ensemble Xtet takes on Stravinsky’s “Septet,” while the L.A. Philharmonic’s principal concertmaster Martin Chalifour performs Schoenberg’s “Phantasy.” Members of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra are set to play Newman’s film scores, and The Angel City Chorale sings “Sure on This Shining Night” by local and international composing legend Morten Lauridsen.
