A full complement of folk music greats, including Arlo Guthrie, Tom Paxton and Peter Yarrow, gather to celebrate actor-singer Theodore Bikel’s 90th birthday — and 75th year in show biz — at this special tribute concert. Pretty much synonymous with his signature role as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, Bikel’s a familiar face from screen and TV too, and received an Oscar nod for his role in The Defiant Ones. But he’s also a well-known singer, not to mention the co-founder of the world-famous Newport Folk Festival, who’s released dozens of discs of Jewish folk music. The son of Woody Guthrie, Arlo Guthrie’s carved out his own successful music career with his witty and politically-charged tunes, including his hit “Alice’s Restaurant.” Tom Paxton’s a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner, known for his topical and children’s songs, and Peter Yarrow continues to perform as a troubadour after 40 years with folk rockers Peter, Paul and Mary (“Puff the Magic Dragon,” “Blowin’ in the Wind”).
