Susan and Christopher EdwardsA woman and her husband are facing a life sentence after being convicted of murdering the woman’s parents and burying them in their own back garden back in 1998.

Susan and Christopher Edwards shot Patricia and William Wycherley and afterwards buried them on top of each other in a makeshift grave at the Wycherleys’ home in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire while pretending their being still alive since last 15 years.

After the incident, the Edwards planned to pretend to the world that the reclusive pensioners were still alive and also sent Christmas cards and letters to relatives.

With the forgery, they got able to make a profit of £245,000 after faking the Wycherleys’ signatures on official documents to obtain credit and sell their house.

The bodies of William and Patricia Wycherley remained undiscovered for 15 years until police unearthed them last October from the back garden after the couple gave themselves up.

Following a two-week trial period at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, a jury found the couple’s daughter Susan Edwards, 56, and her husband Christopher, 57, as being guilty of their murders.

The couple remained emotionless as the verdicts were read out and did not acknowledge each other until they stood to leave the dock, when Edwards put his arm across his wife’s shoulders.

During the trial, it was also revealed that Susan Edwards was deeply obsessed with celebrities and had spent thousands of pounds buying letters written by Hollywood star Gary Cooper. In addition to that, it had also emerged that she had faked a decade-long writing relationship with French film star Gerard Depardieu.

That is the reason that the convicted couple was still debt- ridden as they were found to be £160,000 in debt even after stealing £245,000 from her parents.

The judge, Mrs Justice Kathryn Thirlwall has told the Edwards they could expect a life term when they will be sentenced on Monday.
