ANC To Help SPLM In Party Building

The SPLM Political Bureau composed of 12 members and led by the Secretary General of the party, Pagan Amum met with 8 of the members of ANC led by the partyChairperson Mrs. Baleka Mbete.

The two parties discussed the challenges and the new developments in South Sudan for the ANC to strategise on how it can help.

Upon her arrival at Juba International Airport, Mrs. Baleka Mbete said that ,“I have come to see the new developments and the challenges so that we can shoulder to assist whenever we can,” she said.

The team of 8 members led by the ANC Chairperson and the SPLM Political Bureau led by the party’s General Secretary, Pagan Amum met to discuss party and post independent issues.

Dr. Ann Itto, the Deputy SPLM secretary briefed the press that in 2009, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ANC to develop a frame work to provide leadership for transformation that will help in democracy.

The ANC team was also briefed on the SPLM-NCP negotiations on oil, border demarcation and other post independence issues.

Itto said that they will not agree with Khartoum if it jeopardizes the interest of the South Sudanese but called for continuous negotiations to ensure that peace is realized between the neighbouring States.

ANC will also help the SPLM on how to relate with other parties and help in party building. The party is also interested in seeing how they can help with the negotiations between Juba and Khartoum.
