Experts at Chidline have suggested that the school and the rugby coach should be sued and taken to the court over the sexual assault incident which was reported to the police on Friday.

A group of boys are reported to be sexually assaulting a 16 year old boy during a rugby trip. Authorities have suggested that legal action should be taken against the school and the coach who took all students under his custody to the trip as it was his duty to ensure the protection of children. Instead, he did not pay attention to the complaints of assault being registered by the victim student. The manager of training and advocacy at Chidline Joan van Niekerk spoke to the media and said that it was the duty of the coach to intervene and ensure that there was no such thing as the boy was complaining. However, he did not, which makes him an equal partner in crime.

She said, “And these boys have to suffer the consequences; otherwise they will continue to perpetuate this kind of behavior in public.” She said that rape cases do not require medical report as a prerequisite and a case will be filed.

According to the filed report, one of the teenagers was sexually assaulted on a sports trip with a banana and a broom handle on 17th March. The victim had reported the crime but the concerned authorities did not take any action. Niekerk suggested that the parents of the victim can sue the coach, school, and the police.
