The coalition partners of the ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam, threatened the government on Friday over breaking their partnership and joining hands with the opposition regarding the issue of power failure in Pakistan.

The party claims that it is clear that the government is not doing anything about the power crisis and the nation is left in the dark as leaders play around for their own personal benefits other than focusing on the needs of the people. One of the members of PML-Q Kamil Agha Khan expressed his concerns in the senate on Thursday and said, “It’s a clear warning for the government. It is not possible to continue with the discussion on the president’s address to parliament while ignoring frequent power outages. The government must listen to what people are saying about it; otherwise it will be difficult for us to continue as an ally.”

He further said that the power crisis has taken the country in such a bad way that a city like Lahore is facing power failures for long hours and the government is doing nothing about it. He expressed disappointment that he is speaking on such an important matter concerning the entire nation at the moment and the concerned minister is not even present in the session to respond to his queries. He further said that the concerned minister should be “brought out of a deep slumber and called to explain government’s position.” He said that if matters continued as they are it will be impossible for his party to remain in cooperation with PPP.
