A meeting of the state government and representatives of all NGOs and development partners operating in the state was convened Wednesday to bolster co-operation and development.

The State Deputy Governor Manasseh Lomole who chaired the meeting told the press that several NGOs have been operating outside the state government’s policies.

“We have found out that some NGOs do not do what the state government expects of them. This has prompted our action. We have resolved that the NGOs either comply or leave”, said the Central Equatoria State Information Minister Francis Barson who co-chaired the meeting.

He added that the South Sudan Rehabilitation Commission (SSRC) has also raised concerns ” said Barson.
Last year the Deputy Mayor of Juba City then the Yei County Commission David Lokonga also warned operational NGOs in his county of working not in line with the State and the County policies.
Brig. David Lokonga then accused the NGOs of doing little service delivery out of huge approved funding to render developmental services to the citizens. Among some of the issues he raised were; NGOs do not report their programs to the government, their budgeting and what they are doing periodically.
Barson said the move taken is aimed at improving service delivery to the people in the State.
