Father Mathew Manisare led other Christian faithful in celebrating the re-opening of the church yesterday.

The church was first constructed in 1913 by the missionary groups.

Manisare expressed excitement and acknowledged the efforts made by the Christian faithful in the area for their contributions and commitment towards the renovation of the church building.

The local Christians under Mopoi Parish contributed 1,600 South Sudanese Pounds for the repair of the church windows and doors.

He explained that they also received funding for the renovation from Church In Need Organisation of Germany, the Government of South Sudan under the National Ministry of Interior and Comboni Missionaries.

The church has plans to renovate the other dilapidated buildings around including the Boarding School, Health Center and the Vocational Training Center.

The Paramount Chief of Tombura County Sultan Mboribamu Baabe Renzi gave thanks to the people of Mopoi for their determination and support towards the successful completion of renovation of the church.

Renzi urged the residents to anticipate a greater number of visitors to the church in December.

The Chief urged the people in the area to start crop cultivation for more food production in the next planting season.

Those who attended the reopening included Reverend Father Justin and other Christians from Tombura Parish.
