The call was made on Wednesday during a meeting between the Speaker of the South Sudan National Legislative Assembly (SSLNA) Hon. James Wani Igga and the UNMISS Head and also Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) Hilde F. Johnson.
Ms Johnson visited the Speaker and discussed majorly the security situation in the country and her monthly report to be submitted to the UN Security Council about the situation in South Sudan.
She stressed the importance of joining hands with all stakeholders to address the security situation especially in the volatile Jonglei State.
The UNMISS has 4,900 peace keepers with majority being deployed in Jonglei State following its volatility over the recent years.
Early this week, the South Sudan Army said it had killed at least 150 of the rebels but it’s not easy to verify this independently and also establish the number of causalities on the SPLA side.
