The 17.3 billion South Sudan Pounds, largest ever budget since the then Southern Sudan government in 2005 will be finally passed into its forth reading on Thursday after the Committee of Economy, Development and Finance insert the amendments passed by the parliamentarians during the second reading.

Hon. Paul Lugale Jumi, the Committee Chair of the Economic committee said priorities the budget will be directed on to are; infrastructure, power and agriculture.

There has been slight increase on development capital compared to previous years.

Hon. Onyoti Adigo Nyikwech, the leader of the Minority in the August House called for improved governance and execution of the budget by the Ministry of Finance, Commerce, Investment and Economic Planning.

Onyoti called for discipline and strict observation of the legal tools passed by parliament and meant for transparent utilization of the budget.

Parliamentarians had called for more efforts to be put in place to ensure effective collection of non oil revenues.

About 9.2 billion SSP of the budget will be for expenditure of the financial year while the rest will go to paying debts and Khartoum oil pipeline fees and other charges on the oil production as far the use of Sudan’s facilities is concern.
