Last November, a Japanese air traffic conttroller leaked information regarding Air Force One on his blog. Investigations have been conducted in to the matter by the Japanese officials who feel embarassed and, to some extent, worried of being labelled as incapable of handling important information.

This is not the first time Japan has leaked information. Back in 2007, information regarding the United States Navy’s advanced Aegis combat radar system was leaked by a navy officer who copied the data on to CDs and distributed it amongst his navy school class-mates. This time, the information has been leaked on an online blog written by an air traffic controller who is employed at Haneda Airport in Tokyo.

Information regarding Air Force One is kept secret. However, the controller had posted two pages worth of detailed information regarding President Obama’s flight plans. He also posted 12 pages of information on a Global Hawk Drone that was collecting radiation readings. The officials reported that no description or explanation for the information was posted. Therefore, the facts and statistics even though posted, were not able to be deciphered by any reader.

It has been reported that Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda may personally apologize to President Obama for the breach during a meeting this month in New York.
