Defence Minister A K Antony dismissed all reports about China’s illegal occupation of Indian territory in Ladakh. Antony said the allegations are baseless and confirmed that the government has already taken all necessary steps to safeguard national security.

“I would like to categorically state that Saran has not stated in his report that China has occupied, or has denied access to India to any part of Indian territory. I would like to assure the House that there is no question of India ceding to China any part of Indian territory. The Government has taken all necessary measures to safeguard India’s security and would continue to strengthen our capabilities in border areas to protect our national interest,” Antony insisted.

The opposition in Lok Sabha lashed out at Antony on Friday, quoting reports that China had occupied 640 sq km of Indian territory in Ladakh sector. Although, Antony immediately dismissed the allegations, the opposition did not seem satisfied with his response. BJP members along with others protested against India’s cowardly response to territorial disputes with China.

“This is an outcome of India’s failure to perceive China’s well-planned policy to exploit ambiguity over the LAC which has been perpetuated by successive Congress governments in New Delhi,” BJP J-K chief spokesperson, Jitendra Singh said.

Protesting against Antony’s security policies, the opposition created a havoc-like situation in the Parliament and forced Speaker Meira Kumar to adjourn the House for an hour.
