A young girl fighting depression and anorexia comes before the court appealing for justice after being raped by an NSW police officer, ex-Senior Constable Gregory Ernest Urch.

The victim gave her statement before the court on Thursday informing the court about the sex assault she and another minor had to go through in mid-90s. She also reports to have been “an inch away from death” after the assault as she retorted to be incident by giving up eating to gain “some control over my life.” She was admitted to the hospital’s psychiatric ward and weighed 26kgs at that time. Later she also slipped into coma.

She further told the court with tears in her eyes, “Anorexia became my friend, it loved me. I withdrew from the world because I could not come to terms with what he did to me. I was powerless. But I am the living proof that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. I am determined to get through this and have a decent and comfortable life.”

The impact statement of the second victim of the incident was also read in the court. According to her statement, she was thrown out of school and became a drug addict.

The alleged officer has been dismissed from his duties but remains on bail. Aged 61, Urch had been accused for similar rape cases previously as well.
