Bank robbers lock TD Canada Trust employees in vault, Calgary

The Calgary Police Service continues to seek public assistance in identify a lone gunman who forced employees of a bank into the vault before making off with cash.

At approximately 6:40 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, a gunman confronted staff at the TD Canada Trust at 77 Castleridge Blvd. N.E., as they were opening for the day. The employees were ordered to open the vault so the offender could obtain money.

Once the man had the cash, he locked the employees inside and left the building. The employees were uninjured.

Only one offender entered the bank, but investigators believe a second suspect was waiting outside.

The suspect who went into the bank is described as 20 to 30 years old, 6’ tall, with a thin build, wearing a cream-coloured hooded jacket (hood up), black balaclava, jeans, white shoes, black leather gloves, and a black canvas bag slung over his shoulder.
