On Tuesday, Manitoba electors head to the polls to vote for a new provincial government where the balloting opened early morning at 7 a.m. local time. Apparently, almost 78,000 Manitobans cast their ballots in advance polls last week, therefore, attendance was low.

In the initial hours, a polling station at Northwood Community Centre in Winnipeg only saw five voters; however, a few more came down later. Progressive Conservative leader Hugh McFadyen and his Liberal Jon Gerrard cast their votes early too.

One of the few voters, Linda said: “We’re up early and we have stuff to do. Otherwise we forget. The earlier you come, the better off you are. You don’t have to wait.”

Last week’s polls declared that Mr. Selinger is probably going to win a fourth consecutive majority for the NDP, especially due to the party’s big lead in Winnipeg —home to 31 of the province’s 57 seats. However, a lot of observers note if the Tories can honorably win in Winnipeg, the race could turn around.
