Prime Minister Stephen Harper has planned to have a sitting with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, during his New York trip on Friday. This meeting has arrived at a very diplomatic stage in world politics; it has been only a few days after both the leaders have spoken aggressively regarding Iran. Recently the delegations of both Canada and Israel also marched out of the UN General Assembly, along with other delegations, before the Iranian leader could make his speech.
It is very clear that both the leaders are vigilantly focusing their interest on the dangers they expect Iran has become under the leadership of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Netanyahu openly shared its concern that Iran will gain the ability to create a nuclear weapon by next summer. Harper, on the other hand, stated that Iran has become clear and present danger to the world. Harper was receiving the World Statesman Award from the New York-based Appeal of Conscience Foundation.
Harper defended his ditching of the UN General Assembly this year, which was second in a row, stating that UN has too often encouraged dictators with terrible human rights records. He further added calmly that Canadians look forward to him to stand for the wider wellbeing of humanity and not just to please dictators. Harper has scheduled a meeting with Netanyahu On Friday. He has already has recently had separate meetings with both the president of the Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, and Haitian President Michel Martelly.
