Officers with the York Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit have arrested a 53-year-old man following a fatal fail-to-remain pedestrian collision in the Town of Richmond Hill.
On Thursday, November 1, 2012, at approximately 3:30 a.m., police were called to Yonge Street north of Stouffville Road after a male pedestrian had been struck by a black 2007 Honda Fit. The Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and officers determined the pedestrian had first been struck by a silver 2007 Mercedes R23 station wagon that fled the scene. The pedestrian was then struck by the Honda and the driver immediately contacted police.
The pedestrian, a 30-year-old male from the City of Toronto, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Honda, a 21-year-old male from the Town of Richmond Hill and the passenger, a 23-year-old female also from the Town of Richmond Hill, were not injured.
At approximately 9 p.m. on the same day, the driver of the Mercedes was arrested without incident when he attended #2 District Headquarters.

– Choo-Beng Quah, 53, of the Town of Richmond Hill
Charges:
– Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident
– Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident Cause Bodily Harm
– Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident Cause Death
The suspect has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in the Town of Newmarket sometime today.
