There residents of Calgary-Centre who are afraid of being unavailable to cast their vote on the scheduled voting day, have good news. The ballot for byelections will have an advance poll, casting the ballots today at noon. The poll will officially open from noon until 8 p.m. on Friday.

The voters of the district were all invited to convene, get together and ask questions from the candidates in an all-candidate meeting at the Cliff Bungalow-Mission Community Association on Thursday night, although, when the time came by, it turned out to be a most-candidates meeting. The candidate of Conservative Party, Joan Crockatt, was not able to make it to the meeting and was consequently highly criticized by her rival candidates, who deterred her absence on different occasions.

Liberal Harvie Locke, Green Party Chris Turner, NDP Dan Meades, and Libertarian Party candidate all made sure to criticize Crockatt’s absence. Even the representative of the community association where the meeting was held, Bob Lang, mentioned that Crockatt’s nonattendance was unsatisfactory. He said “I’m not an expert on that, but it’s disappointing because we are going to have a new MP and it would be good to have a chance to meet one of those potential MPs.”

To make up for the crucial absence, Joan Crockatt distributed invitation on her Facebook page for voters to meet up with her at 1 p.m. at the East Village Community Association.
