The highly publicized ongoing preliminary hearing of the prime suspect charged with the first-degree murder, and dismembering and mailing body parts, of Concordia University student Jun Lin, has adjourned until April 8. The suspect, Luka Magnotta, was present in court all nine days so far, witnessing 25 testimonies in Quebec Court at the Montreal courthouse in the high-profile case that has undoubtedly attracted numerous snooping observers, including law students, a retired psychiatric nurse and tourists from Paris and Toronto.

Observers allegedly lineup early morning on a daily basis in order to catch up one of the 15 seats placed for the public, while remaining nine seats are kept reserved for journalists. Particulars of the proof being presented at the testimony is rightfully subjected to a court-ordered publication ban, which is a standard line of action of preliminary hearings that are held to determine if there is enough evidence to send the case to trial.

Four witnesses from Ottawa gave statement and their testimonies on Thursday, including two detectives with the Ottawa police force, Chantal Pombert and Theresa Kelm,  an inspector with Canada Post, Geneviève Benoît, and the director of political operations for the Conservative Party of Canada, Jenni Byrne. 30-years-old Magnotta is facing four charges accusing him of murdering 33-year-old Chinese national Jun Lin on May 25, including causing an indignity to a body, producing and distributing obscene material and sending obscene material through the postal system. Magonotta was arrested in result of an international manhunt on June 6 from an Internet café in Berlin.
