Parks Canada has issued notification of cordoning off parts of the Banff townsite on Saturday, i.e. almost an hour out west from Calgary, as a result of second cougar sighting in the area this weekend. The officials have blocked the north side of the townsite, along with both sides of the Canadian Pacific rail line between Norquay Road and the Compound Road. Anybody violating the notice could be charged, and might face indictment under National Parks Regulation. Reports claim that the victim was able to fight off the cougar with a skateboard after the animal succeeded to knock him to the ground.

The representatives of Parks Canada have already commenced the mission as they collect droppings with tracking dogs and try to find the cougar. They say they have spoken with a man who says he fought off a cougar attack with his skateboard. A resource conservation specialist with Banff National Park, Bill Hunt, reportedly mentioned that “they say they have confirmed that a man was knocked down by a cougar in that area Thursday but he swung his skateboard at the animal, causing it to back off.” said. Officials are afraid that the animal’s behaviour is a major concern.

Hunt confirmed that the officials were able to get in touch with the victim, as he alleged that “on Saturday, we were able to track down the (man),” and he explained that “he was hit from behind and knocked to the ground.” Hunt added that “he smacked it with a skateboard he was carrying.”
