Tennis CanadaThe official draw for the Davis Cup World Group first-round tie between Canada and France took place Thursday at the Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club to determine the match-ups for the coming weekend. The tie will be contested on an indoor hard court at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver from February 10-12, 2012. 
  
The Canadian Davis Cup squad consisting of Frank Dancevic (Niagara Falls, Ontario), Daniel Nestor (Toronto), Vasek Pospisil (Vancouver) and Milos Raonic (Thornhill, Ontario) will battle with France in two singles matches on Friday, a doubles match on Saturday and two reverse singles matches on Sunday. Canadian Davis Cup team captain Martin Laurendeau will be at the helm this weekend. 
  
Today’s draw produced the following weekend match-ups:

“We’re pleased with the draw but really, no matter what the order, we’re just excited to get started and play some great tennis,” said Laurendeau. “The team has worked extremely hard this week and there has been great support from everyone here in Vancouver so we’re ready to go. We know the building will be loud and the fans will be behind us and our guys are going to go out there and do everything they can to win.” 
  
A win over France will advance the Canadian squad to the World Group quarter-finals for the first time in its history. The losing nation must play a World Group play-off in September to retain their spot in the top category in 2013. 
  
Play will begin at 2:00 PT on Friday, February 10 with two singles matches. The doubles match will take place Saturday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. PT and the remaining two singles matches will be on Sunday, February 12 at 2:00 p.m. PT.
