Ustad Sultan KhanLegendary sarangi maestro and classical singer Ustad Sultan Khan passed away on Sunday afternoon. The Padma Bhushan winner was undergoing dialysis for the last four years and died while he was on his way to the hospital.
 
Ustad Sultan Khan started performing when he was 11 years old and even collaborated with international artists like sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar and George Harrison.
 
Khan was the voice behind songs like ‘Piya Basanti Re’ and ‘Albela Saajan’ from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Ustad is survived by his wife, two daughters and son Sabir, who is also a sarangi player. His funeral will be held today afternoon in his hometown Jodhpur.
