SCOOP Release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati pushed to 2018

By now we all know that maverick director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next venture Padmavati which stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor is slated to release in November this year. However, the period drama which is based on the life of Rani Padmavati has been facing multiple obstacles. The film’s sets were vandalized twice and the director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was also assaulted by workers from a political group.

If that wasn’t enough, after the skirmish between the workers from the political party and a subsequent clarification from the film’s production team, the Rajasthan royal family took objection to the film stating that they would pay detailed attention to the progress of the film and that meticulously verify the story of Bhansali’s film before granting further permission for the shoot.

In light of these events, we now hear that the release date of the film which was slated to hit screens this November has been shifted to next year. Though an official confirmation on the same is still pending, sources close to the production of the film maintain that Padmavati despite the severe setbacks is still well on schedule and will hit screens as planned.

Another crucial factor is that Padmavati  is mounted on a massive budget of Rs. 140 cr and has quite literally become a bit of a burden for its makers. Now the project has come too far with quite a bit of resources already being invested into it for it to be scrapped. Reports suggest that the makers of the film hence will opt to take a while longer to complete the project and see it through, rather than rush through it and compromise on the film.
