LOL! Farhan Akhtar gets ‘Mera Baap Writer Hai’ ‘tattooed’ on his hand

You are not a true Bollywood lover if you have not seen the classic Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Deewaar. Released in 1975, it was exciting to see the warring brothers on the opposite side of the law in this crime drama. The performances were first-rate and the dialogues and script, penned by Salim-Javed, were terrific. One of the unforgettable points of the film is Vijay (essayed by Amitabh Bachchan) being forced to have a tattoo that bore the words ‘Mera Baap Chor Hai’.

42 years later, Farhan Akhtar, son of Javed Akhtar of Salim-Javed, has got inspired from this cult film. He also got a tattoo on his arm, albeit a temporary one. The words however are: “Mera Baap Writer Hai”! It’s not a surprise that he immediately got a lot of appreciation for this novel and ‘filmy’ gesture.

On the film front, Farhan Akhtar recently had a release, Lucknow Central, co-starring Diana Penty, Deepak Dobriyal, Rajesh Sharma, Ronit Roy, Gippy Grewal and Inaamulhaq. His two films as producer are up for release – Fukrey Returns, the sequel to 2013’s sleeper hit Fukrey, and the sports biopic Gold, starring Akshay Kumar. While Fukrey Returns will release on December 8, Gold is set to hit theatres on Independence Day 2018.
