Do you remember how the auditorium roared with laughter when Akshay Kumar presented his speech at the Vogue Beauty Awards this year? Well, we all are aware of the witty and quirky side of Twinkle Khanna which is also represented amply on social media and also her books. But we got a glimpse of Akshay Kumar’s real sense of humour recently.
Akshay Kumar’s Padman, which deals with the tabooed topic of periods, has been receiving a lot of appreciation after the trailer hit the tube. Now that the superstar has also started promotions of the film, he recently attended the IIT Fest in Mumbai. Not just that, here we saw the reel Padman sharing the stage with real Padman Arunachalam Muruganathan who too was a part of this interactive session. Besides the duo, R Balki, the director of the film too joined them on stage as everyone started speaking about the film and the tabooed topic it deals with – periods.
Followed by that, the celebrities also were a part of Q&A session wherein the students were asked to fire their questions, doubts etc. Amidst that, an intriguing question that grabbed the attention was the one that a girl asked Akshay Kumar. Considering that he is one of the few actors who broke the myth and decided to star as the protagonist in a film that deals with sanitary pads, the girl was curious to know if Akshay is comfortable to discuss about periods with his wife Twinkle Khanna at their home.
Responding to the same in a humorous manner was the superstar who told her, ‘Ek Poori film bana li uske upar aur kitna comfortable?’ [I have made an entire film how much more comfortable will I be.’ Hearing his response, it was obvious that the crowd burst into laughter and so did the girl who asked the question. However, the actor went on to add that it wouldn’t have been possible for them to make a film without referring to it since they are staying in the same house. He also added that he doesn’t like to whisper about these topics and are often discussed openly at home.
