Akshay Kumar is having the time of his life working on his new political thriller based on the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990, titled Airlift. Directed by debutant Raja Krishna Menon, it is again with the same team that gave us the riveting Baby earlier this year.
So, is Akshay gravitating towards a more realistic kind of cinema?
Says Akshay Kumar, "I'm gravitating towards the scripts I'm enjoying the most at the moment. Airlift is based on an agonizing real life story that happened in the 90s, which will always be remembered as one of the greatest Indian Human Airlift Rescue missions of all time."
Akshay Kumar loves telling the stories about real-life heroes. "It is a story that needs to be told, achieved by men that should never be forgotten, of a real life hero who evacuated 111,000 expat Indians back to India when Saddam Hussain attacked Kuwait in the Persian Gulf War."
Such is Akshay's excitement that, he has learnt Arabic for the film.
