Rustom and Mohenjo Daro - 3 weeks to go to relive Gadar and Lagaan memories from 15 years back

June 15, 2001. This was a landmark day for Bollywood when two major biggies came face to face, and both emerged triumphant. Films like Gadar – Ek Prem Katha and Lagaan is stuff that legends are made of and with both turning out to be successful at the box office, it also paved for many more such clashes that were taken positively, instead of competition.

August 12, 2016. 15 years down the line, now that Rustom and Mohenjo Daro are releasing alongside each other, audiences, trade and industry is keeping its fingers crossed that history would repeat itself, what with both films managing to find an audience of their own. More so, since the makers of both the films are also same.

"Both Gadar – Ek Prem Katha and Rustom are backed by Nittin Keni (of Zee Studios) while Lagaan and Mohenjo Daro have been directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. It is quite uncanny to have both men looking at the same date 15 years later but then that's a fact. The good news though is that both wish each other luck and there are no unhealthy conversations whatsoever building up," an insider comments.

Considering the fact that traditionally, clashes between two films lead to quite a lot of heartburn for all involved, it is a sign of maturity for the Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan starrers where no bad blood is being exchanged.

"Both films are in a space of their own," says Girish Johar of Zee Studios, "Akshay is having a great run with multiple back to back successes. This year it has been Airlift and Housefull 3. Rustom has turned out to be a fabulous film and we are glad with the kind of response which is coming in ever since the promo went on air. On the other hand Ashutosh Gowariker is a master director. For someone to give so much time and energy to a film, it is not an easy thing to do. I am sure with Hrithik, he must have made something remarkable. As an audience, I am so excited to watch both the films and see them succeed tremendously."

With just three more weeks to go for the release of both films (on August 12), the countdown has already begun and the promotion has moved on to the next gear as well.

"Akshay is back from his holiday and has a good plan laid down for him. Zee has some major events planned in days to come. On the other hand Hrithik is arriving almost two years after his last release Bang Bang. He is going to make the most of these three weeks as well," the insider continues.

May both the films entertain audiences and in the process, succeed as well!
