One word: buskerfest! What? You’ve never been to this? Hey, ya gotta get out. This is the perfect weekend for it. Even Environment Canada is giving us all in Toronto a thumbs up.

So, let me fill you in. A “busker” is a street performer and what they do can involve juggling, magic, balancing acts, etc. You name it. Of course, this isn’t exactly a charity event so the idea is for you to chip in something in a show of appreciation. But, but, but let me tell you that I have visited Buskerfest several times and they have some terrific acts. It is quite amazing to see the talent. I’m not talking about cheapo performances; some of these people are absolutely amazing.

This is all happening down by the St. Lawrence Market. The festival takes over the streets of the St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood: Front Street between Jarvis and Scott Street on Thursday, including Market Lane, Church St and Berczy Park and all the way to Yonge Street. Click here for the festival map. Check out the official web site Toronto Buskerfest and you can find a list of performers, photos of previous festivals and videos of some of the acts. It runs from Thursday, August 25 to Sunday, August 28. It’s a blast! So come on downtown. Grab a meal. Make a day of it. Good fun for kids and adults.

Taiwanfest previously known as TCF (Taiwanese Cultural Festival) is also on this weekend. (official web site: August 26 – 28) Check out the schedule for various events.

The annual favourite is on. I’ve been given to understand that this year the exhibition is adding a culinary delight from the southern United States: The Krispy Kreme Burger. What!?! Yep, make yourself a cheeseburger but substitute two Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts for the bun. OMG! This is true? Click on the link to check out my article about this overdose of calories. Gee, it’s the main course and dessert wrapped up into one easy meal. *laughs*

Good luck to all of you in your world. See you around the pages of Oye! Times.
