The Canterville Ghost: Bela’s Homemade Yogurt: The Warrior Horse Pose

The Canterville Ghost
Our setting is Canterville Castle where we will be thrilled and chilled by a very troublesome ghost. A very young Robert Young and an even younger Margaret O’Brien star in this great fun of a classic. A group of American soldiers are billeted near the haunted castle and have come to meet the Lady of the Castle, the young mistress played by Margaret O’Brien, who has invited them to a traditional English Tea. All sorts of things start to happen when the ghost is not happy about the intruders to his peace and calm and little Margaret befriends him to help him find his final rest–but not before there’s loads of mayhem!

Bela’s Homemade Yogurt

1 quart milk, whole or skim

2 tablespoons plain yogurt to use as a starter

1. Bring milk to a boil in a heavy saucepan, stirring constantly.

2. Let the milk cool a bit to room temperature.

3. In a medium bowl, put the yogurt and gradually add the milk, stirring slowly with a wooden spoon.

4. Cover the bowl loosely with a piece of cheesecloth or light kitchen towel and set in a warm place such as an oven that has a pilot light for about 10-15 hours.

5. Refrigerate your yogurt.

You may add fresh fruit or preserves to flavor your yogurt as you like. Save 2 tablespoons from it for your next batch. Each successive batch will become more thick.

The Warrior Horse Pose

This is a variation of the tradition Warrior Pose and it’s great for dropping the spine into place and strengthening the hips and quads.
Stand with your feet wide apart; toes turned slightly outwards. Now sink yourself down as far as you can without causing strain on your knees. Make sure that your spine is straight as if you were sitting upright in a saddle. Hold for about 3-5 deep breaths.
