Kambakkth Ishq and Heropanti – Both these films put together by director Sabbir Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala had boasted of popular music. Hence, when they come together for Baaghi, expectations are of course there for a hat-trick on the cards. Moreover, with young guns Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead, you know for sure that the music would be catering to the youth. No wonder, composers Meet Bros, Amaal Mallik, Ankit Tiwari and Manj Musik along with lyricists Kumaar, Sanjeev Chaturvedi and Raftaar are brought on board to put together five songs for the film.

MUSIC

The name Amaal Malik ensures that you would get to hear a quality track, and most of the times it would have a melodic base to it. This is what you indeed get right from the opening notes of 'Sab Tera'. A beautiful number that is worth many a repeat hearing, it has Armaan Malik taking charge (and being reliably good all over again). However, what springs a pleasant surprise is the voice of Shraddha Kapoor. The ice cold effect in her voice is really impressive and ensures that the romantic words make for a pleasant listening, hence resulting in a chartbuster song all the way.

A quintessential Shammi Kapoor song comes next in the form of 'Let's Talk About Love'. Right from the beginning, you are transported into the world of the 60s and once Raftaar and Neha Kakkar come behind the mike, it is sheer magic. Put together by Manj Musik with Raftaar and Sabbir Khan contributing with the lyrics, the dance number is infections with good fun element thrown in. Moreover, sheer energy in the choreography and picturisation ensure that youngsters would root for Tiger and Shraddha on screen.

Remember those fun 'dandiya' numbers that were put together by Falguni Pathak which primarily had teenage girls as the target audience? Well, there is one such number composed by Meet Bros. in the form of 'Cham Cham'. A cute track that would certainly go down well with Shraddha Kapoor fans, especially the young ones, 'Cham Cham' is as 'desi' as it gets, never mind some English interspersions that are thrown in. Moreover, Monali Thakur makes sure that as a singer, she is totally in synch with the mood, stage, setting and audience for the song.

Meanwhile, for those who would like to hear an Emraan Hashmi-sque song in the film, there is Ankit Tiwari's 'Agar Tu Hota'. As is expected from the composer-singer, electronic guitar plays a major role in this song too. Despite the sad theme of the song (which is basically centred on the 'judaai' element coming into play), the mood is upbeat. The song retains its inherent Bollywood-ish element even with Western arrangements.

As for the Western element, it is in full force for 'Girl I Need You' which has its bearing in international pop. This is the second track put together by Meet Bros. And while they chip in as singers as well, the song is led by Arijit Singh. Surprisingly, his voice is completely unrecognizable here in this song which has been given a heavy techno touch. Though it is not a bad hear per se, in the flow of the album one would have loved to hear another melodic song on the lines of 'Sab Tera' instead.

OVERALL

The music of Baaghi is quite good and indeed turns out to be a hat-trick for Sabbir Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala. Moreover, while there are at least three major songs which would be quite popular in days to come, what is remarkable is the fact that the team of composers and lyricists manage to do that without a single 'daaru' or 'party' reference. In the current times, that by itself is an achievement in itself.
