The spokesperson of South Sudan‘s Foreign Affairs Ministry, Ambassador Mawien Makol Ariik has confirmed that the visit of the Tanzanian President, Jakaya Kikwete to South Sudan, which was scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed indefinitely.
Jakaya Kikwete was to meet with President Salva Kiir to discuss on matters to re-unite the divided Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).
President Kikwete from the Chama Cha Mapinduzi rulling party in Tanzania has been coordinating the intra SPLM talks that have been taking place in Arusha.
Amb. Mawien however, told Gurtong that President Kiir is expected to visit Tanzania for the talks.
The interparty dialogue in Arusha brings together party representatives in Juba, those in the SPLM-In Opposition and the Former Detainees to discuss party reorganization, leadership and reconciliation within the SPLM.
