The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is conducting a five-day strategic training program on community policing in Wau.

WAU, 09 February 2016 [Gurtong] – Thirty members, 15 from the community and 15 others from the police are being trained on how to combat crimes occurring within the communities in the absence of the right police personnel.

The course objectives is to empower the police personnel and community members on concept of community oriented policing with a specific focus on establishing and making functional police community relations committees.

It also aims to get practical experience on how to implement community policing activities across the State and to enhance capacity of police personnel and community members to improve coordination thereby increase easy access to police for community friendly policing services.

The training is expected to increase knowledge of cooperating with other relevant stakeholders in order to achieve better results when coming to crime trafficking within the communities.
It also aims at training traffic awareness and conflict resolution.
