Security at the port of Miami has been increased by the Officers at South Florida due to the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The aim is to locate and avoid any attack or emergency that may arise on the anniversary.

Random security checking of passenger vehicles as well as commercial vehicles. Special sniffing dogs are being used to check vehicles for explosives. X-Ray machines are also being employed by Homeland Security to adequately screen the insides the trucks and vans.

The police have pointed out there presently there is no threat to South Florida. This exercise is a part of regular security exercises that are executed on the port of Miami. However, due to the 9/11 anniversary the security checks have been enhanced with participation from local, state and federal agencies.
