The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh made an announcement on Friday that the collector of the district of Sukma Alex Paul Menon will continue to work in his position after being released by the Maoists on Thursday. He was held as a captive for 12 days and had returned to his family safely yesterday.

The CM spoke to the media while informing about the release of the collector of the district and clarified that there has been no on the record or off the record deal signed between the government and the Maoists for the release of their colleague. Completely denying the allegations on the behalf of the government, Singh said, "There is no secret deal or any understanding to facilitate the release of Alex Paul Menon."

Prof Hargopal and B D Sharma, the two individuals who acted as mediators selected by the Maoists while the collector was in captivity have also denied that they are not aware of any deal being signed between the two parties for the release of Alex Menon. S K Mishra, the facilitator of the government, also refused to accept any such allegation and said that the case is very much transparent and in front of the people.
