20 year old Hamilton skateboarder killed

The Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the City of Hamilton’s 10th traffic fatality and is asking witnesses of the collision to contact them.

On Saturday May 7th, 2011 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a collision occurred at James St. S. and Charlton Ave. involving a motor vehicle and a male riding a skateboard.

The skateboarder was traveling northbound in the west curb lane on James St. that is designated for southbound traffic. The skateboarder entered the intersection at Charlton Ave. and was struck by a motor vehicle traveling westbound through the intersection on Charlton Ave.

The 20-year old male was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name is being withheld at the request of the family. The deceased man was not wearing a helmet. The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid.
