The Ministry of Defence denied the rumors that the office of A.K. Antony had being bugged on Friday and said that it was no big deal, just a routine check conducted by the ministry in the south block of the offices.

One of the officers at the Ministry of Defence said, “Nothing has been found in these checks”. The statement was seconded by the Home Ministry where the spokesperson said, “The MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) has not ordered an IB inquiry into the matter”.

There were several reports that in the routine check of the office of the Defence Ministry conducted on 16th of February had found a “discrepancy” in the south block of the building, specifically in room number 104. The reports also mentioned that the bug was detected by a hand device and trained Military Intelligence officers were immediately called in for a sweep.

Intelligence Bureau professionals were also called in for a counter-check. Several informants have been reporting that the officials are suspecting military officers to be involved in the bugging of the office. However, no formal statements have been recorded.

Army gave its statement regarding the issue saying, “The report that has appeared regarding the bug in the defence minister’s office is totally false. The article is fictitious”.
