The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have acquired RHP DANIEL FARQUHAR from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for LHP DAVID PURCEY.

FARQUHAR, 24, has made four relief appearances this season for the Sacramento River Cats of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) posting a 0-0 record with one save and a 0.00 ERA in eight innings (7H, 3BB, 9K). The 5-11, 185 lb. right-handed pitcher is in his first season with the Athletics organization after he was traded by Toronto along with RHP TRYSTAN MAGNUSON on November 17, 2010 in exchange for outfielder RAJAI DAVIS.

PURCEY, 28, made five relief appearances this season for Toronto this season prior to being designated for assignment on April 12. The 6-4, 240 lb. left-handed pitcher has posted an 11.57 ERA this season allowing three runs over 2 1/3 innings pitched (3H, 4BB, 3K).

Farquhar will report to the Blue Jays triple-A affiliate in the Pacific Coast League, the Las Vegas 51’s.
