The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is thrilled to announce that its first pick, second overall, in the 2010 CFL Canadian Draft, OT Joe Eppele has signed through the 2012 season.

Tipping the scales at 6-feet, 8-inches tall and over 300 pounds, Eppele received extensive playing time at Washington State. A three-time second-team PAC-10 academic all-star, the hulking tackle started five games and dressed in 33 games over his four seasons as a Cougar.

Commented Argos Head Coach Jim Barker, “We are excited to have our first overall pick under contract. We appreciate Joe’s commitment to the Argos and the Canadian Football League and look forward to seeing him on the field in Double Blue at rookie camp on June 2.”

College: Played four years at Washington State (2006-09)…2009 Played in all 11 games at left tackle, starting in 3 of them…Named to All-Pac-10 Conference Academic Second-Team for third straight season…2008 Earned varsity letter after playing in 10 games, 2 of which he started… Also served on PAT and FG units…Named to All-Pac-10 Conference Academic Second-Team for second straight season…2007 Earned varsity letter after playing in all 12 games, mostly serving on PAT and FG units…Named to All-Pac-10 Conference Academic Second-Team…2006 Freshman.

Personal: Joseph Thomas Eppele is the son of Carol Ann and Thomas. He has an older brother named Josh and a younger sister named Carlin. When he was younger, Joe was rated as one of the best shot-putters and hammer-throwers for his age in Canada. Joe enjoys all kinds of music, as well as outdoor activities including hiking, camping, hunting and fishing. The psychology major at Washington State earned his B.Sc., with a minor in business administration.
