Brian Burke, President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that the hockey club has recalled goaltender Jussi Rynnas (ROO-nas) on an emergency basis from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Leafs also announced that goaltender James Reimer will not be in tonight’s lineup as he has an upper body injury.
Rynnas, a 24-year-old native of Pori, Finland has played 19 games for the Marlies this season compiling a record of 9-8-1 with a 2.48 goals against average, a .911 save percentage and three shutouts. The 6’5, 212-pound goaltender has also appeared in 14 games for the ECHL’s Reading Royals. In 14 games with Reading he has registered an 8-5-1 record, a 3.21 goals against average and .a 914 save percentage with one shutout.
The Marlies will travel to Rochester for games on Friday and Saturday against the Amerks before returning home to face the Grand Rapid Griffins, AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, on Sunday, April 1 at Ricoh Coliseum. Game time on Sunday is 3 p.m.
